Kenneth Christopher George Wray, Captain, South Lancashire Regiment (TF)

Kenneth Christopher George Wray came up from Repton School in Derbyshire in 1910.

Born: Halton, Cheshire on 19 May 1891

Fell in action: 9 August 1916

It seems that College life was not for him as he left in 1911 to take his articles at a solicitors in Warrington.

He made little impression whilst here other than as an “excellent goalkeeper” for the association football team. ( Society Annual Report 1912, p32).

His obituary in the Annual Report says that he went to the front in February 1915, took part in the Battle of Hooge in June 1915 and fell in action in August 1916. His Commanding Officer wrote “He was absolutely lacking in fear, and his men were absolutely full of confidence in him” ( Society Annual Report, 1917, p40).
