Kenneth George Davies, Lieutenant, Royal Engineers
Kenneth George Davies, came up to in October 1914 as a Classical Exhibitioner from Haileybury College in Hertfordshire, following his brother Wilfred Eric Davies (1912).
Born: London, 4 June 1895
Fell in action: 19 May 1917
Kenneth was obviously close to Wilfred as the Cambridge Society obituary for him says that “he was well known to many Jesus men by his visits to his brother” ( Cambridge Society Annual Report 1917, p22).
Both brothers enlisted with the Royal Engineers, Kenneth at the end of his first term. He was promoted to Lieutenant in February 1917 and was killed in May of that year. In his obituary it is recorded that his brother Wilfred had been invalided home with shell shock.
Wilfred also survived service with the R.A.F. in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches. He died in January 1974 at the age of eighty. ( Cambridge Society Annual Report 1974, p36)
