Rupert Edward Roberts, Major, Manchester Regiment

Rupert Edward Roberts matriculated in October 1900 after attending Worcester Royal Grammar School.

Born: 15 June 1881

Died of wounds received in action: 26 March 1918

Roberts received his BA in 1903 after taking the Maths Part I Paper achieving Junior Optimes. Little is known of his time in College as there is no Annual Report obituary for him. We know that he was captain of his school cricket and football teams, but we have no record of his participation in these sports at College.

Alumni Cantabrigienses: A Biographical List of All Known Students, Graduates and Holders of Office at the University of Cambridge, from the Earliest Times to 1900 (ed. John Venn), records that after leaving Cambridge he went on to be an Assistant Master at Dunstable Grammar School and after that at Merchiston Castle School in Scotland from 1905-1912.
