Your West Court accommodation
Wifi
There is free wifi available in all rooms and throughout °µÍø½ûÇø. The network is ‘°µÍø½ûÇø Guest’ and no password is required. You will be asked to renew your login every 24 hours.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily in the main dining Hall. Opening hours are 7.30am – 9am Monday to Friday and 8am – 9.30am on weekends and bank holidays.
Tea and coffee facilities are provided in your room and are refreshed daily.
Your room
Your room will be inspected daily and serviced every other day during the working week.
In line with the College’s commitment to sustainability, towels will be replaced every three days. If you would like your towel changed more frequently, please leave it on the floor and it will be replaced.
You will find a fan in your wardrobe for warmer weather. During cooler months, the heating is on from 6am until 11am and from 4pm until 11pm. For extra pillows, duvets or blankets, please contact reception.
Health and safety
A fire alarm test takes place every Wednesday between 10am and 11am. If you hear the fire alarm at any other time, please leave the building immediately. The fire assembly point is outside the entrance to West Court on Jesus Lane.
Apart from the designated smoking areas, smoking is prohibited across °µÍø½ûÇø's site including all West Court bedrooms. A charge of £300 applies if smoke is detected in your room. Please see reception or the College map for the nearest designated smoking area or step onto Jesus Lane in front of West Court's entrance.
Check out
We ask all guests to check out by 10am. Free luggage storage is available at reception upon request. We have limited late check out slots available at a cost of £25; please request these from reception in advance if you would like the flexibility to stay until midday.
Please return all room cards to reception before you depart.
Travelling to and from °µÍø½ûÇø
A regular runs to Cambridge from London King’s Cross Station, London Liverpool Street Station, and many other mainline UK stations. The College is located approximately 2 miles (3.2 kilometres) from the railway station.
Buses into central Cambridge from the train station run approximately every 10 minutes.
There is a taxi rank located outside the station. Typical journeys last about 10-15 minutes and cost around £12. Local taxi companies include (+44 (0)1223 715715) and (+44 (0)1223 704704).

Roost Café and Brewery Room
The Roost Café offers drinks, light snacks, and sandwiches every day except Sunday. The Brewery Room, located below the Roost, is open for drinks during the evenings on Tuesday – Sunday. Please note that only card payments are accepted in the Roost Café and the Brewery Room.
Roost Café hours:
- Monday: 9am – 4pm
- Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
- Saturday: 10am – 2pm
- Sunday: Closed.
Brewery Room hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday – Friday: 5pm – 11pm
- Saturday – Sunday: 6pm – 11pm.
College history
°µÍø½ûÇø has a compelling history that spans over five centuries. It was founded in 1496 on the site of a former Benedictine nunnery as a community for graduate priests studying in the University. The College is officially known as the College of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St John the Evangelist and the Glorious Virgin St Radegund, but became commonly known as °µÍø½ûÇø.
Today, it is a community of more than 1,200 members. You can read more about the history of °µÍø½ûÇø.
College grounds
Please feel free to explore °µÍø½ûÇø's grounds during your stay. Maps and further information are available at the West Court reception desk, including a map showing our sculpture trail and nature trail. Please follow local signage about private areas or temporary closures.
College Chapel
Guests staying in °µÍø½ûÇø are warmly welcomed to experience the historic Chapel and attend a free service, with music sung by our renowned choirs. Built in the 12th century, it is the oldest Chapel in Cambridge that is still in active use.
Accessible from Cloister Court, the Chapel is open every day from 6am to midnight. Leaflet guides and termcards are available for visitors inside the entrance. °µÍø½ûÇø is very near to the commercial centre of Cambridge and provides easy access to most of the city’s major attractions.
