#BlackMenofCambridgeUniversity one year on

It's a year since the #BlackMenofCambridgeUniversity photos went viral - taken by Jesuan student .

Ore, Chair of the , talks in a new University of Cambridge video about both the photos and the Society's Access programme to support black prospective students .

In the video, Ore explains; "After the picture we released an access plan of action, all the plans that the ACS had in terms of improving access for black students to the University." Those plans included an inaugural access conference, bringing together 60 high-achieving black students to run subject-intensive workshops and a mentoring scheme, running from July 2017 up until admissions interviews.

Ore continues: "I think it's also led to everyone else wanting to show what the situation is like at their universities as well, like Oxford, King's and London unis ... it was like a sense of, if we're going to highlight how much of a diversity issue there is let's actually have this conversation properly, it's not just a Cambridge problem - it's something that we're seeing at top institutions across the country."

Thank you to ACS for the use of their photo for our newsfeed link for this article.
