Cambridge Jazz Festival is coming to °µÍø½ûÇø

For the first time, °µÍø½ûÇø will host a number of Cambridge Jazz Festival events, including  performances by multi-award-winning UK vocalist and master musician .

The Festival’s closing weekend will take place at Jesus, and all staff, fellows, and students will be entitled to concessionary prices to the events held in College.

The events:

  • – Frankopan Hall – Saturday 26 November, 11am-1.30pm: Come to this in-person workshop with saxophonist and composer  to hear him share his approaches and concepts for tackling pieces. Tim will discuss his musical life and answer questions, and there will be an opportunity for participants to play during the workshop.
  • – Frankopan Hall – Saturday 26 November, 7-9pm: Multi-award-winning jazz vocalist will perform an intimate evening concert of her own material with pianist for an exclusive performance in the Frankopan Hall.
  • – Forum Hall – Sunday 27 November 11am-1.30pm: Acclaimed jazz musician Pete Churchill will be joined by his daughter and musical sensation Immy Churchill alongside the A-team of rhythm sections, Steve Watts and Steve Brown. Together, this quartet will be paying tribute to the music of Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.
  • – Forum Hall – Sunday 27 November, 3-5pm:  Join with jazz composer, performer, conductor and educator Pete Churchill for an accessible singing workshop for all abilities. He will teach the groove-based harmonies by ear so you don’t need any previous singing experience or an ability to read music - just enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new!
  • – Frankopan Hall – Sunday 27 November, 2.30-3.30pm: The Master will host a session with Orphy Robinson, discussing perspectives and experiences on developing creative practice. There will be live music and even livelier discussion, drawing on their knowledge and experience from their celebrated careers in both supporting and developing the arts and composition and performance.
  • – Frankopan Hall – Sunday 27 November, 7.30-10pm: Come and see Omar team up with his decade-long partnership of QCBA, featuring the outstanding trumpet player Quentin Collins and the tenor sax titan Brandon Allen, for an intoxicating musical cocktail of jazz, R&B, funk, and soul.
  • The Joseph Septet – Brewery Room – Sunday 27 November, 9-11pm.
