Congratulations to our new graduates

Congratulations to our 142 students who graduated today following a General Admission ceremony at the Senate House.

Today was our main graduation ceremony for undergraduate students completing their three or four-year degrees, as well as graduate students completing certain taught courses.

In the ceremony, five different types of degree representing the whole breadth of academic courses were conferred by former Master Professor Ian White, now Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath.

Before processing to the Senate House, Dr Geoff Parks our Senior Tutor explained the origins and meaning of the ceremony to the students, while our Praelector - the College Fellow who formally presents students during their matriculation and graduation ceremonies - Rev'd Dr Paul Dominiak rehearsed the choreography of the graduation ceremony with them. .

We extend our warm congratulations to our new graduates and, in the words of the College motto, hope that their journeys may be successful - whatever the future holds for them.

Spotlight on our medical and veterinary graduates

Dr Sybil Stacpoole, Acting Director of Studies for parts of both the Medical Sciences and Medical & Veterinary Sciences courses, said: "Congratulations to our sixth year medical and veterinary students who have graduated to become doctors and vets! This is a magnificent achievement, after six years of dedicated study, testing academic, practical and communication skills, as well as determination and resilience.

"The graduation was all the more remarkable in 2019 with Isy, Hatty, Laura, Keerthi, Manu and Ollie all achieving distinctions in the Final MB exams. Keerthi and Isy also received University prizes for their outstanding performance in these final exams. We wish them all every success at the start of their clinical careers, and look forward to welcoming them back to College at the earliest opportunity."
