°µÍø½ûÇø Choir’s latest album enters the charts in the top ten
The Choir's latest release has entered the Specialist Classical Chart at number three.
blends a selection of ancient and modern works from the 16th and 20th Centuries, combining a selection of spiritual works on the theme of evening. The Choir's fifth release on Signum Records, it has been recommended on BBC Radio 3’s Building a Library show. Previous albums by the Choir have drawn near universal praise from critics.
Director of Music at °µÍø½ûÇø, Mark Williams, says,
“The release of a new disc is always a nail-biting time for the Choir. A disc represents hours of planning, rehearsing, recording and editing and is a memento of a particular time in the Choir’s history, with the membership changing every year as students come and go and choristers’ voices change and new choristers arrive.
"Whilst the disc has personal significance for all those who have taken part in its recording, it is particularly pleasing to see the hard work of all involved rewarded with the recognition that chart success brings. To hear an album sung by 10-year old boys and undergraduates who study a wide range of subjects reviewed favourably on the BBC alongside new releases by fully-professional ensembles is a tribute to the achievement of all those who dedicate so much of their time and energy to the Choir and College."
