Local school children sing alongside choristers
Around fifty children from across Cambridgeshire took part in a singing workshop on Saturday (23 June) before taking part in a concert in the beautiful 12th Century Chapel here at °µÍø½ûÇø.
Organised jointly by °µÍø½ûÇø and St Catharine’s College, the 6-11 year olds were taught songs by vocal expert Hilary Jones, before giving a final performance for their parents.
The concert also featured the boy choristers of °µÍø½ûÇø and girl choristers of St Catharine’s College, all of whom are drawn from local schools and sing regularly at College Chapel services and performances throughout the year.
Director of Music at °µÍø½ûÇø, Richard Pinel, said: “We run this day every two years to bring children together to experience the joy of singing as part of a group. Our choristers have also enjoyed welcoming everyone along to sing in our Chapel.â€
Director of Music at St Catharine’s College, Dr Edward Wickham, said: “These are always wonderful events, and it’s fantastic to see so many children coming together with our choristers to create a performance that they’re so proud of.â€
