An upcoming concert from  will feature 'She Adored', a new composition by Joanna Ward (2016).

The concert features music in praise of the Virgin Mary from the Renaissance to the present day. It includes well-known pieces by William Byrd and Benjamin Britten alongside world premieres by composers Sarah Rinkus and Joanna Ward.

Joanna is in her first year studying music at °µÍø½ûÇø. She is a prize-winning composer and has had her works performed by a number of notable groups such as Voces8, the Gesualdo Six and the National Youth Orchestra. .

"I'm thrilled to be having my piece premiered by Cambridge Chorale", said Joanna. "It's very exciting to be featured on a programme alongside composers such as Parsons, Duruflé and John Tavener.

"I'm really grateful to Owain Park for the commission, and to Cambridge Chorale for their support of new music. It's always very humbling when someone puts their faith in you to write a piece, especially when the brief is as broad as this was - and it's especially refreshing to see both commissioned composers being women."
