Biography
Ramsay Bowden studied pre-clinical and clinical medicine at °µÍø½ûÇø, Cambridge, qualifying in 2010. She went on to undertake specialist training in Clinical Genetics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
In 2016 she was awarded a Wellcome Clinical Research Fellowship to study for a PhD under the supervision of Professor Steve Jackson at the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge. Through her research, Dr Bowden developed large scale genetic interaction screening techniques to identify new therapeutic targets in genetic disease.
Returning to a clinical academic role at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Dr Bowden developed her interest in diseases associated with defective DNA repair pathways. Her postdoctoral research explores patterns of genetic change in cancer and normal tissue, identified as ‘mutational signatures’. She uses this approach to develop new tools for diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Other interests
Millinery, travel, cookery.
